Just less than 180 runners and walkers took part in last year’s race and as we are celebrating our 5th year of running the event with a reduced entry fee of €7 or £5 we are hoping for a much increased field of runners and walkers. The route is chip timed and is a Donegal County Athletics Board Grand Prix Race and is kindly sponsored by Coyle’s Centra, Raphoe. Pre-registration is available on raphoe5k@hotmail.co.uk Little smiles with big dreamsLittle Smiles with Big Dreams is a parent and toddler group that meets every Wednesday morning at 10:30am – 12 noon in the Family Resource Centre.  Anyone who is in care of a child where it is an aunt / uncle/ child-minder or grandparent is welcome.  The kiddies can get involved in Messy play, free play, story time and music time where the adult can enjoy a cuppa tea and meet other adults.  Parent and Toddler are a great way to enhance your little one confidence and meet others their age.A light lunch is provided and a small cost of 50 cent per family.Raphoe Walking GroupThe Walking Group meets every Thursday morning at 10.30am.  All abilities are catered for. And an important element of the group is coming in afterwards to have a chat and a cuppa!Young Carers GroupAre you a young carer? Do you help to take care for someone at home who has an illness, disability, substance misuse, mental health difficulty or bereavement? The Loft Youth Project hosts a Young Carers Group for 12-18 year olds on Saturday mornings at 16-18 Port Road, Letterkenny. For further information please contact 074 9129630 or 087 1255246.Raphoe Boxing Club The Boxers and officials of the Raphoe Boxing club extend congratulations to the Magee Family Chloe, Sam and Joshua on their recent medal success at the European games in Baku.  Well done, great for the small town of Raphoe.A very special thank you goes to Martin Laird and all his crew at the tidy towns for the excellent work that they do inside and outside the clubhouse and to local sign writer Kevin Gallagher for his painting inside the Raphoe Clubs new extension as it is greatly appreciated.  The officials of the boxing club are busy putting plans together for this years major boxing tournament which will take place on saturday 7th November in the Deele College Sports Pavilion when the club will have as their guests one of England’s Premier boxing clubs Tenbury Well B.C, who will spend 5 days in Raphoe.  The Raphoe Club spent a very successful 4 days with the Tenbury club back in March with a very successful boxing tournament in the local grammer School.St. Eunan’s National School 60 Year CelebrationsSt Eunan’s NS, Raphoe are celebrating their 60 year anniversary. We will be hosting the celebrations in September/ October 2015. This is a perfect opportunity to promote local history to our children in a fun and interesting way. We are looking for local people to help us organise the event and to pass on their expertise on the history of the school. If you are interested contact Anita Keeve at St Eunan’s NS, on 074 91 45764. As part of this event the children are tracing past pupils all around the world and indeed Ireland. If you have a relative or friend who is a past pupil and who does not now live in Raphoe, it would be great if you could encourage them to send the students a postcard telling us about where they now live and their memories of St Eunan’s NS.Please note that items for the Raphoe Notes should be placed in the box provided in the Post Office on or before 12 noon on Fridays.
