first_imgJoan Damon of Lot 138 King Edward Street in Albuoystown, Georgetown has been remanded to prison until June 8, after appearing before Georgetown Magistrate Leron Daly charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.The woman has denied the allegations, which stated that on May 9, 2018, at King Edward Street, she had in her possession 70 grams of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.On the day in question, CANU ranks acting on information contacted the woman at her King Edward Street home. After identifying themselves, they requested to search her person and premises. During the search, the mother of three asked to be excused to use the washroom.While in the process of urinating, she pulled out a while plastic bag from under her garments and was seen throwing it over a fence some three feet away from where a police rank was in the process of cordoning off the premises.The bag with the item was retrieved, and a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis was unearthed. The woman was told of the offence committed, cautioned and arrested. She will make her next court appearance on June 8.last_img
